The Michelle Obama Elementary School consists of the design and construction of a new 51,000 SF, K-6 elementary school campus. The new school provides students with a world-class learning environment, offering intentionally-designed flexible spaces for thriving 21st century enrichment campus. The Type-IV single and two-story buildings define major spaces that will include a multi-purpose room, library, administrative spaces, community kitchen, flex learning suites equipped with makerspace labs, and offices. A site package was also be included which will consist of hardscape, faculty parking and drop-off areas, landscape, and play structures, a synthetic turf field, outdoor learning areas and a garden.
The project had an aggressive schedule from the start. After a year of design and DSA approval, Overaa had 13 months to complete construction to allow for students to occupy the new campus by the 2020 Fall school year. In order to meet the the completion milestone, our crews worked 6-7 days a week for the duration of the construction.
