Overaa Green Project

Evergreen Valley College Automotive Technology Building

Project Details

The 39,250 SF high performing auto-tech facility contains two small lecture classrooms (approximately 1,500 SF/each), a medium sized classroom accommodating up to 30 students and a large lecture classroom for up to 60 students. There are thrirt automobile bays requiring specialty equipment such as lifts, utilities, exhaust hoods, and upgraded mechanical systems. Other specialty rooms includes:  tool room, engine machine shop, engine cleaning room, fuel and electrical lab and smog testing. There is  seven individual teacher offices, adjacent to a common work space. Numerous storage areas are scattered throughout the facility along with several small restrooms. Utilities were installed within 10 feet of the building footprint via a separate project by others extending from the recently upgraded central energy plant with a new accessible concrete trench.  The project scope also included utilities and site improvements.

The project’s original LEED goal was Gold. Starting soon after the slab pours, weekly LEED meetings were held with District, design team, third party commissioning agent, and Overaa to start reviewing the LEED goals. Through these weekly meetings we were able to maximize our goals and points resulting in raising our certification to LEED Platinum.
