Partial demolition, expansion, and seismic upgrade of an existing parking structure. The new 117,600 SF addition is a pre-cast, four-level, hybrid structure that incorporated precast beams and columns, as well as cast-in-place upturned beams and post tension decks. It was designed so that the new and old structure were tied together by the foundation while maintaining a seismic separation above. Seismic upgrades also covered the the remaining portion of the existing garage. The project was located on an occupied campus with a residential area and several schools in close proximity. Overaa met weekly with Kaiser representatives including their public relations officer to keep hospital patients, staff and the surrounding neighbors informed of project status. This working relationship was critical to planning work and minimizing disruptions to hospital operations, and the local neighborhood and schools.
