Expansion and reconfiguration of an emergency department and diagnostic imaging suite located on the third floor of an operational hospital. A careful and detailed phasing plan was required to manage activity in the highly sensitive patient recovery areas. Phase 1A included the construction of new emergency department registration, exam rooms, triage rooms, work spaces, and a medicine dispensary room complete with omnicell equipment. Phase 1B covered the reconfiguration of the cardiology and radiology department. This included construction of the diagnostic imaging registration, changing room, storage room, waiting room, and support spaces. Phase 2 involved the reconfiguration of the existing emergency department. This encompassed construction of the patient waiting room, two screening rooms with med gas, security office, and nurse reception area.
