Kaiser Oakland Medical Center Parking Structure Phase 2

Project Details

Design and construction of a 410,000 SF parking structure directly across from an operating Medical Office Building (MOB). The ten-level (two below grade), 1,220 stall facility is comprised of a pre-cast hybrid structural system. It features a mat slab foundation, waterproofed basement levels, metal panels, and perforated metal screening. Overaa self-performed the 7,000 cubic yard mat foundation, pre-cast beams and columns, and cast-in place parking decks. We partnered with the community of Oakland to achieve local, small, and minority subcontracting goals on this project. Simultaneous with the parking structure, Kaiser added scope to build the foundation for an adjacent Specialty Medical Office Building (SMOB). This required careful coordination with the structural systems which shared common walls with each other. Extensive safety coordination was required with Overaa’s crew placing the 46,980 SF continuous mat slab for the SMOB.
