Expansion to an existing water treatment plant to reduce the City of Tracy’s reliance on well water as the source for their drinking water and to increase plant capacity to 30 MGD – almost double its previous size. Improvements included a new high rate flocculation/ sedimentation tank, new traditional GAC Filters and modifications to existing filters, UV disinfection, chemical building, blower building, tank farm, washwater basins, and a new operations building. Overaa coordinated construction activities with operations to schedule necessary shutdowns and tie-ins during times of low demand to minimize impacts to the plant’s ongoing operations. Work performed off hours and multiple shifts were required to meet the tight project schedule. At the time of completion, this was the largest drinking water UV Light disinfection system in California.
