Chevron Richmond Lubricants Plant Seismic Retrofit Phase 1 & Phase 2

Project Details

Chevron Richmond Lubricants Plant (RLP)  is a large, combined use building that was constructed in 1947 and primarily contains areas for plant operations, blending and storage, along with several offices and a laboratory. This critical building stores and distributes all the finished lubricant products from the refinery.

Phase 1 consisted of seismic retrofit and mandatory ADA upgrades as well as decommissioning the office mezzanine, MEP modifications to support the seismic retrofit and ADA upgrades, and egress improvements for the entire building.

Phase 2 consisted of voluntary seismic retrofit and subsequent mandatory ADA upgrades, and MEP modifications to support the seismic retrofit on the first floor and lower roof. Work on the Lower Roof required dust mitigation in order to protect critical equipment housed within the building. The roof work was completed in stages to prevent water leaks throughout construction as the lubricant production plant remained operational.
