The Kemper Hall Lab project consisted of converting a micro manufacturing laboratory into a high tech 60,000 SF Clean Room Lab Hub with specialty equipment. The CM/GC contract invited Overaa to collaborate with UC Davis and designer in the early phase process to assist with alternative design suggestions for early bid package breakout and initial start of construction phasing.
The overall scope included the installation of 14 non-hazardous gas lines, and eight hazardous gas lines, all with specially fabricated stainless steel piping. Overaa also installed a Process Chilled Water system with copper piping, as well as three new exhaust ducting systems. All of these systems faced the typical laboratory constraints on space, and had the potential to conflict heavily with existing systems already in the building, hence the alternative design/assist we provided. We also installed a Toxic Gas Management system which controlled the distribution of the hazardous gases and monitored the exhaust systems. Overaa provided commissioning services on all of these systems.
