Metal Shop Buildings Project in Richmond Goes Vertical!

A project 10 years in the making is going vertical! We began erecting the first of three metal buildings on January 6th, and as of January 14th, the main frames for the building were squarely in place. To date, we have placed 2,870 cubic yards of the 5,300 cubic yards of slab on grade concrete for the 86,000 SF footprint. The new high performance building is a combination of pre-engineered metal building shell along with custom structural elements. It will accommodate on site fabrication, equipment maintenance and repair services in a 105,500 SF shop, with 40,000 SF dedicated to a two-story office and support space.
Overaa provided extensive preconstruction and planning services including multiple budgets, budget analysis, constructability, material and equipment selection and procurement plans, specialty subcontractor bidding, interviewing and selection, soil stabilization investigation and options as well as program analysis and site utilization/logistics planning. We partnered with our client to review scopes including railway adjustment and specialized gates. Our team also engaged in cost and schedule risk analysis to further increase predictability of what will be delivered by the teamboth on time and within budget.
