THIS IS AN OVERAA PROJECT
Overaa and PBK are the General Contractor and Architect respectively for the Progressive-Design-Build of the Santa Rita Jail Kitchen Renovation Project.
Overaa is seeking subcontractor bids for 100% Design Development documents provided. Subcontractor award will be based upon this bid effort.
Scope of Work is to demolish an existing commercial kitchen used for meal preparation for justice-involved individuals and staff and replace with a new kitchen with new layout, systems, and foodservice equipment. Project delivery process is Progressive Design-Build method in accordance with Public Contract Code. Kitchen is located within secured area of site, but in a separate building apart from housing units.
Trades include:
Abatement, demolition, concrete removal, concrete, steel, metal deck, casework, countertops, roofing, flashings, insulation, doors, frames, hardware, overhead coiling doors, glazing systems, window film, joint sealants, firestop, painting, framing and drywall, tiling, acoustical ceilings, epoxy flooring, resilient flooring, sealed concrete, specialties, wall protection, signage, food service, storage shelving, elevator modifications, design-build fire protection, plumbing, HVAC and controls, electrical, site demolition, paving, pavement markings, site concrete, site utilities
Demolition of kitchen interior, including all furnishings, fixtures and equipment. Demolition will also include any underground utilities, plumbing, interior finishes, demising walls and other interior elements not structural or supporting critical building functions.
Renovated kitchen will included updating wall finishes, partitions, ceilings, fixture, equipment, and floor finishes to create a modern, efficient, and compliant kitchen environment.
Building exterior will remain except for the following:
1) Separate access points to the first and second floor non-occupied storage spaces.
2) Installation of a new ADA ramp from the parking lot up to the first floor elevation of the kitchen, an approximate 3’-6” elevation change.
3) Installation of a new roofing system over the existing structure that houses the kitchen area only.
Upgrades to mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, building management system, security system and fire-life safety systems will be required.
Installation of electrical infrastructure and connection of the renovated kitchen electrical system to the jail’s emergency backup generator system, which is being upgraded under a separate project.

Subcontractor personnel must be cleared by Alameda County Sheriff Office before workers are allowed onsite

This project includes a Project Stabilization / Community Benefit Agreement (PSCBA) also knows as a Project Labor Agreement or PLA.
