Carpenters

Overaa is a signatory contractor with the Northern California Carpenters Union. Carpenter positions are filled in accordance with union hiring requirements, wage agreements, and benefit plans. Current union members should contact their local union or hiring hall regarding employment opportunities with Overaa.

Those who are new to the trade can apply through the Nor Cal Carpenters Training apprenticeship program. Applicants must be at least 18 years old—or 17 with parental consent—and have a high school diploma, GED, or qualifying equivalent experience. Apprentices develop their skills through a combination of paid, hands-on jobsite experience and classroom instruction. Applications are accepted throughout the year, although placement depends on contractor demand, available openings, and the applicant’s position on the referral list.

Union membership provides access to negotiated wage rates, apprenticeship and continuing-education programs, and, subject to plan eligibility requirements, benefits that may include health coverage, pension and annuity plans, a 401(k), and vacation, holiday, and sick-leave benefits. Members can also take advancement courses in areas such as layout, safety, technology, leadership, and specialized construction skills.

Field Engineers work alongside the Superintendent to coordinate field operations and keep projects moving safely, efficiently, and according to plan. Based on the jobsite, they support quality control, scheduling, procurement, cost management, production, and coordination with craft teams and trade partners.This hands-on role provides broad exposure to construction operations and a clear path toward becoming a Superintendent. Field Engineers typically have a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Relevant construction and trades experience is also highly valued.

Superintendents lead field operations and are responsible for delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to Overaa’s standards for quality. They coordinate craft teams and trade partners, manage schedules and site logistics, anticipate challenges, and keep the work progressing from mobilization through completion.

This role requires extensive knowledge of building systems and construction methods, along with experience leading field teams and managing self-performed work. Successful Superintendents are proactive problem-solvers, clear communicators, and trusted leaders with an unwavering commitment to safety.

Foremen are experienced craft professionals who have developed the technical expertise, leadership, and judgment to lead crews in the field. Often specializing in scopes such as civil, concrete, or framing, they coordinate daily work, maintain safety and quality, mentor their teams, solve field challenges, and play a critical role in delivering successful projects.

Overaa is a signatory contractor with the Northern California Laborers Union. Laborer positions are filled in accordance with union hiring requirements, wage agreements, and benefit plans. Current union members should contact their local hiring hall regarding dispatch and opportunities with Overaa.

Those who are new to the trade can enter through the Northern California Laborers apprenticeship program. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid government-issued ID, be physically able to perform the work, communicate safely on a jobsite, and pass a drug test. The apprenticeship combines 4,000 hours of paid, hands-on field experience with six weeks of classroom instruction, allowing apprentices to earn while developing practical construction skills.Union membership provides access to negotiated wage rates, training and safety programs, and, subject to plan eligibility requirements, benefits that may include medical, dental and vision coverage, pension and annuity plans, and vacation-holiday benefits. Laborers also have access to continuing education that can help them expand their skills and advance throughout their careers.
