Overaa is committed to education and career development.
The Overaa Continuous Improvement (OCI) program underpins the company philosophy of individual growth and continuous learning. The goal of the OCI training is to enhance and strengthen individual skills, train future leaders, foster teamwork and improve the operations processes of our organization.
Our training program offers both skill building and education curricula. Courses include management training modules such as leadership, time management, negotiations, and estimating as well as hands-on skill building including the latest in integrative software and green building materials and processes. We offer tuition reimbursement for selected coursework and seminars.
We know that the construction business is waste and energy-intensive, so as general contractors, our decisions and actions carry great responsibility. To that end, we actively seek out projects and clients whose entrepreneurial zeal for the environment aligns with our own. In 2019, ENR named Overaa the 70th top Environmental Firm in the nation and the top 3rd Environmental Contractor in California
We are currently working on cutting edge environmental projects that recycle water to irrigate golf courses, or clean Stanford’s sludge before it’s discharged into San Francisco Bay, or remove endocrine disruptors from our drinking water. We’ve helped wineries and breweries to recycle and reuse water and we’ve helped cities create organic waste processing systems.
So far, our projects have generated more than 25 Megawatts of clean energy (through solar and cogeneration). In fact, our Richmond Headquarters are powered 100% by the sun.
We have a comprehensive construction materials reuse program which focuses primarily on the reuse of concrete formwork components. Since concrete related activiites represent more than half of our work volume, we have found that aggregating concrete forming operations at our Richmond yard and using our proprietary concrete formwork systems we have significantly reduced our construction waste.
Overaa has had the good fortune over the years to succeed and thrive in our community. We are dedicated to giving back.
Each year, our team focuses our attention on a couple of programs that are near and dear to our hearts, such as sponsoring the teachers at our neighborhood elementary school, Verde Elementary or helping to build the East Bay's first BMX park at Dirt World.
The underlying theme of our program is to partner with causes that benefit education, the environment or the community. To name a few: Muir Heritage Land Trust, Junior Achievement, Bay Area Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Leap Sandcastle.
Our Overaa Cares program includes employee donation matching and several optional volunteer group activities each year.
