The work consists of, but is not limited to the removal and replacement
of all five high lift vertical turbine pumps, pump discharge silent check valves, air release valves,
butterfly valves/motor operators, pump 1 and 2 discharge piping upsize modifications, removal
and replacement of black vinyl coated chain link fence and gate where shown, replacement of
westerly concrete walk with new wider sidewalk, which includes but is not limited to the
sawcutting and removals of existing PCC concrete pavement and curbs, new 8 inch wide curb
under portion of new fence, replacement of wet well access hatch with a larger custom combined
access hatch and vent/overflow aluminum hatch, patching AC pavement along new conduit
trenches to the Zone 3 pump station, removal and disposal of the old Zone 3 pump station’s
abandoned 12” suction water piping that is being relocated by others (assumed to be ACP and
cement lined and coated weld steel pipe), new CMU retaining wall and reinforced concrete
generator pad, excavation of existing slope bank for new generator retaining wall and pad, offsite
disposal of excess excavated soil from generator pad area, tree stump and root ball removal,
removal AC pavement and portion of concrete v-ditch for constructing a new 12” wide concrete
trench drain along west edge of generator pad, miscellaneous electrical modifications for
changing the utility power service from 4,160 volts to 480 volts, new 12kv to 480kv transformer
pad, PG&E bollards, furnish and install new 4” conduit for new PGE service, transformer pad, new
variable frequency drive (VFD) panels for all five new pumps, installation of the new City pre-
purchased utility section meter/main switchboard with solar breaker section, manual transfer
switch (MTS) sections and power distribution panel sections, furnish and installation of all new
conduit and wire as required in power room and for overhead power and controls to new pumps,
new underground conduits and wire for change of voltage modifications to the Zone 3
pump/blower building, removal of existing 4160v to 480v transformer, miscellaneous AC patching
and installation of a new 1250 KW emergency generator with 2,323 gallon subbase diesel tank.
The emergency generator has been pre-purchased by the City and will be furnished to the
successful bidder. The successful bidder will need to move/relocate the pre-purchased generator
from its temporary storage site once the proposed retaining wall and site work for the
housekeeping generator pad is completed and shall carefully move the generator using a large
crane in order to install/anchor the generator to the housekeeping pad per the project plans,
special provisions and technical specifications, and shall coordinate and schedule the start-up
testing and the start of the warranty for the generator with the generator vendor.
