THE SCOPE OF WORK FOR THIS PROJECT CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS AT THE MAIN CLASSROOM BUILDING A:
1. MAJOR VOLUNTARY STRUCTURAL IMPROVEMENTS:
A. BUCKLING RESTRAINED BRACED FRAMES AT THE SOUTH END OF THE
AUDITORIUM SPACE TO MITIGATE A VERTICAL SEISMIC LOAD PATH
DEFICIENCY.
B. NEW PLYWOOD AT AUDITORIUM ROOF AND NEW IN PLANE SHEAR
TRANSFER INTO CONCRETE WALLS.
C. OUT OF PLANE WALL STRENGTHENING AT THE EAST AND WEST
AUDITORIUM WALLS TO MITIGATE DEFICIENT STRENGTH OF EXISTING
COMPONENTS.
D. FOUNDATION STRENGTHENING TO MITIGATE POSSIBLE SETTLEMENT
IN THE SOUTH EAST CORNER.
E. SEPARATING SLAB IN CORNER OF POTENTIAL SETTLEMENT.
POTENTIAL SETTLEMENT AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE EVENT MAY REQUIRE
REPAIRS.
F. NEW SHEATHING AT STAGE ROOF.
G. NEW FRAMING AT LOW (CLASSROOM) ROOF.
2. RIGHT SIZING OF UNDERSIZED CLASSROOMS INCLUDING NECESSARY FA, POWER/DATA, LIGHTING, CASEWORK, AND FINISHES.
3. TOILET ROOM ALTERATION/RELOCATION.
4. ADMINISTRATION SUITE ALTERATION FOR NEW ACCESSIBLE AND SECURED ENTRY TO CAMPUS.
5. ACCESS COMPLIANCE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: ACCESSIBLE PATH OF TRAVEL TO THE AREA OF WORK AND ACCESSIBLE DRINKING FOUNTAINS.
6. MECHANICAL HEATING AND VENTILATION SYSTEM REPLACEMENT.
7. SPRINKLER SYSTEM MODIFICATIONS.
8. ASSOCIATED SITE WORK.
9. PLAY YARD AND COURTYARD RESTORATION.
THE SCOPE OF WORK FOR THIS PROJECT CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS AT CLASSROOM BUILDING B:
1. BOILER AND PUMPS REPLACEMENT.
2. ELECTRICAL SWITCHBOARD REPLACEMENT.
3. EGRESS DOOR REPLACEMENT.
DSA CERTIFICATION OF THE CURRENT PROJECT 01-121267 IS CONTINGENT UPON THE CERTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT UNDER DSA APPLICATION 01-120798.
THE CLOSEST RESTROOMS SERVING THE PLAY AREA AND GARDEN EDUCATION AREA IS PART OF THE SCOPE OF WORK OF THE PROJECT UNDER 01-120798.
PROJECT CLASS 1 INSPECTOR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED.
DSA DEFERRED APPROVALS:
FABRICATION OF DEFERRED SUBMITTAL ITEMS SHALL NOT BE STARTED UNTIL CONTRACTOR’S DRAWINGS, SPECIFICATIONS AND ENGINEERING CALCULATIONS FOR THE ACTUAL SYSTEMS TO BE INSTALLED HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED AND SIGNED OFF BY THE ARCHITECT OR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER OF RECORD AND APPROVED BY DSA
1. ALL STOREFRONT OPENINGS INCLUDING ANCHORAGE TO FRAMING PURSUANT TO DSA IR 24-2, ARTICLE 1.2. CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ENGINEERING FOR ALL CONNECTIONS TO STRUCTURAL AND MULLION DESIGN.

LBE & SLBE Oakland Participation:
There is a 50% Local Business participation requirement on all District Capital Program construction and construction related professional services agreements.
Accepting Oakland based firms who are currently certified by the following agencies:
• The City of Oakland
• The Port of Oakland
• Alameda County Transportation Commission
• Alameda County
• California Public Utilities Commission
• Caltrans
LBE – Local Business Enterprise: A firm located in Oakland and certified by the City of Oakland and/or one of the listed agencies as an LBE.
SLBE – Small Local Business Enterprise: A firm located in Oakland and certified by the City of Oakland as an SLBE or VSLBE, and/or one of the listed agencies that meets the City of Oakland small business size standards.
SLRBE – Small Local Resident Business Enterprise: A firm certified by the Oakland Unified School District that meets all the criteria for the SLBE and whose owner is a current City of Oakland resident.
The 50% Local Business utilization requirement can be met with: 25% (or less) Local Business (LBE) participation AND 25% (or more) Small Local and/or Small Local Resident Business (SLBE/SLRBE) participation.

PROJECT LABOR AGREEMENT: The school district has entered into a Project Labor Agreement that will bind all contractors and subcontractors performing work on the Project, and the DBE must agree to be bound by that Project Labor Agreement. Contractors whose scope of work are subject to SB 854 (Public Work Reform) shall register and renew annually with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). DIR shall administer and enforce minimum requirements for contractors bidding and working on public works projects for compliance with prevailing wages, maintaining workers’ compensation coverages, holding applicable licenses, verifying no delinquent unpaid or penalty assessments to any employee or enforcement agency, and confirming no federal or state debarments
SKILLED AND TRAINED WORKFORCE REQUIREMENTS. The successful subcontractor will have to comply with skilled and trained workforce requirements pursuant to Public Contract Code sections 2600 et seq. and Education Code section 17250.62(c)(1).
