On May 2, 2018, the Zone 7 Water Agency Board of Directors broke ground on the much anticipated ozonation project at the Del Valle Water Treatment Plant in Livermore, California. The purpose of the ozonation project is to help maintain high-quality water by disinfecting and treating cyanotoxins. The scope of work will include the construction of new facilities including an ozone generation building, contactor structure, new chemical facilities and storage, and a new utility water pump station. The project has been in the planning stages for 15 years. Planning, design costs and construction costs are estimated at $48.5 million.
