The AC Transit Bus Yard, Maintenance Shop and Office contract consisted of the design, construction, and equipping of a complete 172 bus operating division. The site remained in operation throughout construction. The new facility included a new fueling facility, underground tank farm, bus washer, bus maintenance areas, parts storage, offices, driver dispatch and waiting areas, and employee parking.
Scope of work included:
- Demolition of existing structures and removal of underground tanks
- Modification of existing onsite city-owned utilities and existing paving
- Furnishing of specialized equipment including air compressors, automotive equipment, battery charging equipment, benches, shop tables, brake drum laths, cabinets and shelving, cleaning equipment, cranes, un-interruptible power, dollies and carts, fueling islands, movable and built-in furniture, bus lifts, machine tools, forklift control, underground tanks and secondary equipment, bus vacuums, bus washers, fixed paint booth, paging system, parking control, chassis dynamometer, engine generator, and miscellaneous welding equipment
- Clean-up of original bus yard which had been located at this same site for over 30 years. Included toxic waste clean up and other environmental issues
